GALLERY

In the gallery there are variuos photography exhibitions with a new installation every 3 months, Blommers/ Schumm, Scheltens-Abbenes and Qiu Yang are some of the artists that have exhibited so far. Graphic designers Michiel Schuurman and Suzanne Caerteling design a screenprinted postcard for each new exhibition. The exhibiting photographer is asked by Soepboer & Stooker to interpret and capture this card in their own way. These images are used, for an e-flyer and for the announcement of the exhibition.

MICHIEL SCHUURMAN (1974) is a Dutch graphic designer working in Amsterdam. Schuurman’s personal work specializes in typography and poster design which often boasts a rather maximalistic approach. His practice of combining bright colors, warped glyphs, harsh perspectives, and acidic patterns creates some awfully intriguing eye-candy, which he often screen prints himself.

SUZANNE CAERTELING (1984) is graduated as graphic designer at the ArtEZ academy in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Her work is characterized by her illustration and use of colour, which range from bold to subtile and simple to decorative. Her work is often designed for silkscreen, and she loves to print it herself.

~PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION: NINETTE SCHOSTACK & MAAIKE STAAL~ 21/01/2012 until 20/04/2012

"De lumine, de sono et itinere eo."

A luminous and blasting photo installation which is composed literally from pieces.
The young and exclusive labels that Soepboer & Stooker currently represent are interwoven in the work.

NINETTE SCHOSTACK; In her photographic portraits and still lifes Ninette Schostack is continuously working within opposite tendencies to redefine and translate artificial into human and the same way in reverse. She is focusing on a synthetic, produced quality that is not usually associated with the traditional idea of an image or the viewers expectation by using a rather classical visual language. www.ninette.nl
MAAIKE STAAL (ELLE style award winner 2012);
Maaike first worked as a designer but discovered the part of the job she liked most, was the styling for photoshoots. She did a course in fasionstyling, assisted freelance stylists and quickly got her own assignments. She is a perfectionist and likes to think about the whole concept; story, location, sphere etc. Maaike can draw inspiration from almost anything and turn it into a shoot, and likes to work with the garments of young designers. www.maaikestaal.nl

OPENING EXHIBITION 10/06/2011 PHOTOGRAPHY POSTCARD BY HEIDI VOGELS
HEIDI VOGELS The exhibition Passages (or combinations) refers to the abstract notion of the spaces in between. Spaces described by the pink polka dots on a summer shirt and the gentle moving of plants in the back garden. Or: the passageways of the vast more mental space of the image, and the actual shape of things: - lines, clothes, models, streets or just a conversation.

~OPENING EXHIBITION WYNE VEEN

WYNE VEEN: "My central theme is uselessness. I feel that life is ridiculous. The products and arrangements I show are a reflection of investments of time and effort by men. They show the development of our society just like the old 17th century famous Dutch still lives did. But I don't see this development as something to be proud of, I think it is way over the top. So I criticise it. I often wonder what on earth people are occupied with while there are so many better things to do. I don't want to define these better things, because it's up to people themselves. But I am quite sure it won't be creating another plastic peach." - Wyne Veen for Zest magazine.
